Video Transmission

The Surveyor™-Mini camera dome system employs a modular concept

with separate interface boards for IP and analog video transmission. The

IP cameras are offered in H.264 and MPEG-4 ViconNet® compression

models. Both support MJPEG as well. An analog version is also available

that offers video transmission over coaxial cable. The analog model is

compatible with many competitive PTZ control protocols.

Camera and Optics

Construction and Installation

The Surveyor-Mini includes an integral camera and lens. A 3.8-38 mm

varifocal lens with an optical 10X zoom provides superb sharpness and

excellent sensitivity. The camera is an interline color CCD device with a

digital 10X zoom and resolution of 768 x 494 lines (NTSC). Total zoom is

100X. Digital noise reduction is provided to minimize video interference

and triggering of false alarms. The camera provides a full 360º pan/tilt

rotation. 64 programmable presets are provided.

The Surveyor-Mini is designed for easy installation. The internal CPU,

pan/tilt drive and customer interface board are separate modules

contained in the die-cast, aluminum enclosure. The customer

interface module provides accessible terminal blocks for simple wiring

connections. The modular design makes installation of IP models

especially easy. All connections are made to the customer interface IP

module, including power, alarm and network. An analog video output is

also provided for lens focusing on a local monitor. A ribbon connector

connects the module to the camera. Vicon’s exclusive VNsetup utility

quicklyndsthecameraonthenetworkandenablesquickassignment

of an IP address.

The lower dome is constructed of impact-resistant, polycarbonate and is

secured by tamper-proof screws, providing anti-vandal security. Several

mountingaccessoriesareavailabletotalmostanyinstallationneed.

The outdoor units are provided with a blower and thermostatically-

controlled heater for extended temperature range.
